Abstract (EN)
This thesis study was conducted in the Tuzla District of Istanbul Province and the Nilüfer District of Bursa Province. The main aim of the study is to perform ground-penetrating radar (GPR) investigations to check for deformations or potential deformations in asphalt, concrete overlay roads with known layer thicknesses, and those constructed in accordance with specifications, as well as in the subbase layers of asphalt. The GPR method, used state-of-the-art technological devices, with the Mala brand GPR measurement device and equipment (250 MHz shielded antennas) used in the study. Following fieldwork, the Reflexw program was used for data processing, and two-dimensional radargram images were obtained. By evaluating these data, interpretations were made, and conclusions were drawn. In the two-dimensional GPR sections and images obtained in the study area, anomalies with circular forms, which could be interpreted as transitions between natural or artificial layers, were detected. These anomalies were found to be either circular or linear, respectively. The two-dimensional GPR sections and images obtained in the study area revealed anomalies with circular forms, which could be interpreted as transitions between natural or artificial layers, and linear anomalies that could be considered as transition zones between layers. The use of the Ground penetratin radar method is recommended in this thesis for examining transportation structures in detail without causing damage, confirming construction details, and predicting potential deformations that may arise from areas outside the construction. Circular anomalies are thought to represent artificial or natural (karstic) voids, while linear anomalies may indicate transitions between layers. The results have been presented to relevant experts and are expected to contribute to future research in the field.
