Introduction and Purpose: It is very difficult for university students who are in the process of development to adapt to the rapidly changing world today socially, emotionally and cognitively. The process of recognizing and directing emotions is very important in order to make this process easier and to ensure psychological well-being in the future.. This study was conducted in a cross-sectional relationship seeking way to investigate the relationship between cognitive emotion regulation, self-compassion and dating violence in university students. Method: Theuniverse of thisdescriptionsearchingstudyconsists of a total of 13933 studentsfromallFacultiesandVocational Schools in Düzce University in the 2016-2017academicyear. A total of 623 studentswereincluded in the sampling. DatawerecollectedthroughPersonal Information Form, "CognitiveEmotionRegulationScale", "Self-CompassionScale" andDatingViolenceScale". The analysis of datawasevaluatedbybuilding a database at SPSS Statistics 22 package program andbyusingdescriptivestatistics, Pearson correlationanalysis, simplelinearregression, t-test andone-wayanalysis of variance. Findings: 51.4% of the students included in the study are males and 17.3% of them are in faculty of management, 15.4% are in faculty of engineering, 13.2% are in faculty of health sciences and 12.2% are in faculty of technology.37.2% of the students within the scope of the study stated that they are currently in a dating relationship and 7.8% of them experienced violence in this relationship and 5.7% stated that they used violence in the dating relationship. Cognitive emotion regulation and being a woman increases the severity of flirting, applying self-compassion and violence reduces the severity of flirting. In particular, consultationof university students with high violent behaviors by public health nurses, education and awareness studies can contribute to the reduction of these behaviors through and the formation of a healthy society from healthy individuals of the future.
