Relationships between career decisions, perfectionism, learning morivation and academic success among universtiry students

Abstract (EN)

In this research, we aimed to examine the relationship between career decision, perfectionism, learning motivation and academic achievement among the university students. Under the research career decision, perfectionism and learning motivation's effects on academic achievement were examined. This study attribute a relational model of descriptive research model. This study was consisted of 417, in 2th, 3th and 4th grade university students which from different departments of Dokuz Eylul University in İzmir provision in the 2013-2014 academic year. Within the research, in order to measure the university students career decision level, researchers used the Career Decision Scale (CDS) which developed by researcher, Multi Dimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS) to determine perfectionism levels, Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) to assess learning motivation and personal information form which developed by researcher was used to obtained the academic achievement and other socio-demographic characteristics. The finding of the research is consistent with other literature, and determined there was a significant positive relationship between career decision, perfectionism, learning motivation and academic achievement. Career indecision level was differentiated by gender and class which located socio-demographic variables. Students perfectionism levels indicated a significant difference among gender, faculty and grade variables. Students learning motivation indicates a significant difference according to gender and faculty variables. Students academic achievement indicates a significant difference according to gender, faculty, place of resident, source of income and age variables.
