Parental bonding and satisfaction with life as predictors of self-compassion on undergraduates

This study has been conducted to analyze how undergraduates' parental bonding and satisfaction with life predict their self-compassion, is a descriptive research in correlational survey model. Study population is comprised of different age group students who study in different faculties and departments on 2018-2019 academic year at Çukurova University, sampling on the other hand is comprised of volunteered 379 students who were selected by stratified sampling method through 'voluntariness debriefing text'. The datas on Self-compassion level as predicted variable of the study were obtained by using Self-Compassion Scale, on the other hand the datas on satisfaction with life and parental bonding as predictor variable of the study were obtained by using Satisfaction With Life Scale and Parental Bonding Scale. Obtained datas by sampling were entered into SPSS 17.0 statistical package program by which entire statistical analysis of the research were carried out. As the result of data analysis, self-compassion is predicted by mother control and father control dimensions of satisfaction with life and paternal bonding scale, self's level of satisfaction with life is predicted only by his/her father's interest and self-compassion level. It was found that there is no prediction between self-compassion and father's and mother's interest despite correlation and paternal attitude which is perceived in relation to self autonomy affects self-compassion level.
