Abstract (EN)

The research was conducted to examine the relationship between social media addiction, eating attitudes and life satisfaction in a sample of university students. Relational screening model was used. The universe of the research was undergraduate students studying at Beykent University. It was planned to make an announcement in the virtual environment to the students of all faculties. The random sampling method was determined as the sampling method. Since the data were collected from the social media environment and from the announcements and links on the internet, the sample determined by random sampling consisted of 630 students who voluntarily participated in the research. In order to collect data in the research, "Personal Information Form", "Social Media Addiction Scale-Adult Form", "Life Satisfaction Scale" and Eating Experiment Scale were used. As a result of the research, it was determined that there was a negative significant relationship between total addiction and eating attitude and no significant relationship with life satisfaction. It was determined that there is a negative significant relationship between eating attitude and life satisfaction. When the results of multiple regression analysis regarding the prediction of social addiction sub-dimensions on the eating attitude scale were examined; It was found that social media addiction significantly predicted eating attitudes. Considering the scarcity of studies on eating disorders and internet addiction in our country, it can be suggested that these studies be repeated in different sample groups. In addition to social media addiction, eating attitude and life satisfaction variables, childhood traumas, psychological states and parental attitudes can be examined as mediating variables.
