Abstract (EN)

This research is a descriptive study to investigate whether alexithymic level of students; self-esteemed and the state-trait anxiety levels change or not respect to constant anxiety level,gender,age,economical state and individual person.At the investigation, randomly selected 450 students at different grade levels in 2006-2007 academic year at Department of Educational Science(Consulting Psychology),Department of Primary Teaching(Primary School and Mathematics Teaching Programme) and Department of Turkish Language Teaching in institute of Educational Faculty of Gazi University were taken as sample.In the investigation,Toronto Alexithymia Scale,Coopersmith Self-esteem Scale,State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and Personal Information Form superimposed on students.The findings are as follows:1-There is a significant difference on the mean of alexithymia score between low and high self-esteem of university students.Alexithymia score of students who have low self-esteem is higher than students who have high self-esteem.2-There is a signifacant difference between the mean of alexithymia score of high and normal constant anxiety of university students.Alexithymia score of students who have high constant anxiety is higher than students who have normal anxiety.3-There is significant difference between alexithymia score of two different genders. Alexithymia score of boys is higher than girls.4-There is no significant difference between alexithymia scorse of students belong to state anxiety level,different age,economical state and individual person.The findings of the study were discussed in the light of relevant literature.
