Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between social self efficacy with the interaction of the opposite sex and psychological birth order according to the gender.The sample of the study consisted of 421 university students studying in different colleges in Çukurova University. For identifying the psychological birth order of the students `White-Campell Psychological Birth Order Inventory? that was adapted by Kaplan (2005) was used, for identifying the social self efficacy with the interaction of the opposite sex `Social Self Efficacy with the Interaction of the Opposite Sex Scale? by Ünlü (2004) was used and for obtaining information about the personal and family characteristics of participants `Personal Information Form? developed by the researcher was used. In the data analysis part, `One Way ANOVA, Independent Samples T-test and Chi-Square? was utilized.According to the findings of the research, it was identified that male students with regard to the females perceive themselves more satisfactory/regulator (older child) and lovely/persuasive (younger child). Moreover, in the relations with opposite sex, males got higher scores than females in initiating the relation.In addition to these, it was found that satisfactory/regulator (older child) children are more competent in maintaining the relations with opposite sex while the excluded/neglected (second child) children are more competent in terminating the relations.Keywords: Psychological Birth Order, Dating-Flirting, Social Self Efficacy, Self Efficacy, Opposite Sex
