Investigation of the relationship between university students childhood traumas and cognitive distortions regarding relationships

The foundational aim of this work is to investigate the relationship between childhood traumas and cognitive distortions regarding relationships. An investigation of the relationship between childhood traumas and cognitive distortions regarding relationships depending on socio-demographic factors was requested to be investigated as well in order to see if there are any changes according to the factors. Using the suitable, non-hand-picked example method, 400 university students aged between 18-28 were used as examples for the study. In this study, as data collecting tools, a 'Personal Information Form', the measurement for "Small Trauma Experience Determination" and the measurement for 'Cognitive Distortion Regarding Relationships' were used. The data acquired from the study was analyzed using the program IBM SPSS Statistics 23. In the analysis, the Independent Groups T-Test, the One-Way ANOVA Test and the Pearson Product Moment Correlation were used. As a result of the conducted analysis, a meaningful, positive, medium level relationship between childhood traumas and cognitive distortions regarding relationships was discovered.
