Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research was to examine the role of self-compassion, perceptions of parental acceptance-rejection and gender in predicting self-efficacy levels of university students. Data of the research were collected through "General Self Efficacy Scale", "Self-Compassion Scale", and "Adult Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire Short Form". Also, a "Personal Information Form" was used in order to collect information about demographic variables of the participants. Participants consisted of 750 (287 males; 463 females) students studying at Anadolu University during the Spring Semester in 2018-2019 academic year. In order to analyze the data, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and stepwise regression analysis was used. A significance of .05 was used in this study. The findings of the research revealed that self-compassion had a significant positive effect on self-efficacy and perceived maternal rejection had a significant negative effect on self-efficacy. At the same time, it was found that perceived paternal acceptance-rejection and gender does not have any significant contribution to the prediction of self-efficacy. In this context, self-compassion explains 22% of the total variance, and 24% of the total variance together with perceived maternal rejection. As a result, all these findings of research indicate that university students' self-compassion are supporting factor and perceived maternal rejection levels are risk factor on self-efficacy of them.
