Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the recreational tendencies of university students and the factors that prevent them to participate in recreational activities and identify whether these factors differentiate according to certain variables. Undergraduate students of Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University who studied in the academic year of 2012-2013 participated in this study and the sample group was randomly selected 490 volunteer people, 239 (48.8%) of which were men and 251 (51.2%) of which were women, studying in both day and night classes of The Faculty of Islamic Sciences, The Faculty of Science and The Faculty of Education. As a means of collecting data "Obstacles to Leisure" scale was used in this study. The scale used in this study consist of 27 items to measure 6 sub-dimensions which push individuals to determine Leisure Obstacles as (1) " a lack of time and interest", (2) "individual psychology" (3) "lack of knowledge" (4) "transportation problem" (5) "facility failure" and (6) "lack of friends". Individuals Leisure Obstacles was evaluated on the 4-point Likert-type scale form as "Absolutely Insignificant (1)" and "Insignificant (2)", "Important (3)", and "very important (4) ". ANOVA and independent two-sample t-test was applied in the comparison of gender, education type and grades of students in terms of their point of view and in order to determine the source of the significant difference found in the result, Duncan Test was performed. In statistical analysis of the data, factor analysis was applied to reveal the dimensions of the bottom of the scale and in factor analysis, varimax axis-rotating analysis of principal components method was used. To test the internal consistency of the questionnaire, Cronsbach?s Alfa internal consistency test was applied to the total scale and sub-dimensions which were identified as a result of factor analysis. According to the independent variables indicated in 3 out of 6 factors of the scale, differentiations were observed, however, that differentiations were found concentrated in the sub-dimension of "lack of time and interest". In the emergence of this differentiation variables such as gender, grade and education type were found to be effective. Key Words: Leisure time, recreation, conflict, university students, campus
