Assigning the comfort level and self care strength of the women having urinary incontinence

This study was carried out to determine the comfort level and self-care power of women with urinary incontinence. This descriptive and cross sectional research was performed in a, gynecology services of Gaziantep University Şahinbey Research and Application Hospital between February 2016- April 2018. The population included women who are diagnosed with urinary incontinence in the gynecology services of Gaziantep University Şahinbey Research and Application Hospital. Research sample included a total of 124 women who staying in the gynecology service with the diagnosis of urinary incontinence, not having a surgery because of yhe urinary incontinence yet, being older than 18, not having communication problems and mental insufficiency,being able to speak Turkish. Collection of data was performed using, Personal Information Form, Urinary Incontinence and Frequency Comfort Scale. The data was collected face- to- face. Data analysis was done using SPSS windows 24.0 package program. The mean of the total Urinary Incontinence and Frequency Comfort Scale scores of the women with urinary incontinence was 3,35±0,59, and the mean of their total Self Care Scale scores was 88,09±14,59. A statistically significant correlation was detected between the mean Urinary Incontinence and Frequency Comfort Scale scores and the type of incontinence and the incontinence frequency and the duration of incontinence (p<0.05). A statistically significant correlation was detected between the mean Self care Scale and the incontinence frequency and the duration of incontinence (p<0.05). A statistically significant moderate positive correlation was detected between Turkish Urinary Incontinence and Frequency Comfort Scale and Self Care Scale (r=0,479 P=0,001). It has been determined that women with urinary incontinence have a medium level of comfort and are independent and competent at performing self- care.
