Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to determine the relationship between the social skill levels of the gifted students and the motivations of using social media. According to different variables (class level, gender, number of siblings, family cohesion status, parents' educational status), it was examined whether there was a significant difference between the social skill level of the gifted students and the motivation of using social media. Descriptive survey method , one of the quantitative research designs, was used in this study.It was applied in Science Art Centers in Amasya, Samsun, Çorum, Tokat provinces and districts. The population of the study contains 4. 5. 6. 7. and 8th grade students.219 gifted students, who were selected through random sampling method, have been reached. The Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher, the Social Skills Scale developed by Kocayörük (2000), and the Social Media Use Motivation Scale developed by Köroğlu (2014) were applied to the participants as a data collection tool Data were analyzed by using SPSS package program. In addition to descriptive analysis, T-test and ANOVA tests were used. According to the results of the study, a significant negative correlation was found between the social skill levels of the gifted students and the motivations of using social media. It was seen that gifted students using internet 4 hours or longer had significantly different social skill levels than those using internet for less than 1 hour. It has been concluded that gifted students usually use social media to have fun and learn and their favourite social media site is Youtube
