Özet (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between intelligence and above-average general ability, creativity, task commitment of gifted individuals. In this regard, a meta-analysis was performed with correlational studies conducted between 2000 and 2023. Correlational studies were determined within the framework of the research inclusion criteria and analyzed according to the random effects model. Comprehensive Meta-Analysis program was used within the analysis process. The mean effect size, outlier, publication bias and heterogeneity analyses were also investigated. Sub-group analyzes (Analog ANOVA) and meta-regression analyzes were conducted using the coded moderator variables of the studies included in the meta-analysis, and the reasons underlying the heterogeneous distribution of the reported effect sizes were tested. The mean effect size of the relationship between intelligence and above-average general ability in gifted individuals was found to be large. The effect sizes reported in the studies included in the meta-analysis showed a heterogeneous distribution. Sub-group analysis revealed that the mean effect size of the relationship between intelligence and above-average general ability had statistically significant differences in the human development level (HDI) and above-average general ability test groups. Meta-regression analyses revealed that the real variance within the effect sizes is explained by the variables HDI, HDI with the year of publication and above-average general ability test, and whether above-average general ability test is original or adaptation. The mean effect size of the relationship between intelligence and creativity in gifted individuals was found to be small. It was observed that the effect sizes reported in the studies included in the meta-analysis showed a heterogeneous distribution. According to the sub-group analysis results, the mean effect size for the relationship between intelligence and creativity in gifted shows statistically significant differences in the intelligence test, original or adaptation of the intelligence test, and creativity test/scale groups. Meta-regression analyses showed that the real variance within the effect sizes is explained by the following variables of the intelligence test, whether the intelligence test is original or adaptation, whether the intelligence test is original or adaptation together with the intelligence test, creativity test/scale and creativity test/scale together with whether the creativity test/scale is original or adaptation. It was found that the mean effect size of the relationship between intelligence and task commitment in gifted individuals was small. It was observed that the effect sizes reported in the studies included in the meta-analysis showed a homogeneous distribution. The impacts of significant variables were discussed, and implications for further research were provided.
