Abstract (EN)
Metal-based drugs have been used for various diseases such as cancer, diabetes and rheumatism since a few centuries. The VA main group metal compounds including inorganic and metallorganic complexes have been studied in medicine for decades owing to the interesting physical properties and medical functions. Especially antimony and bismuth compounds have been very important in the treatment of various diseases since many years. The thioamide-derived ligands, including the 2-imidazolidinone used in this thesis study, have a wide range of applications in coordination chemistry. It is also known today that thioamide derivative ligands are the agents of many drugs. Within the scope of this thesis study six new coordination compounds have been synthesized with 2-imidazolidinone with antimony (III) and bismuth (III) halides (SbX3, BiX3, X: Cl, Br and I). The chemical structures of synthesized complexes have been characterized by melting point, molar conductivity, FT-IR spectroscopy, FT-Raman spectroscopy, 1H and 13C-NMR spectroscopy, TG-DTA analysis. Reactions of 2-imidazolidinethion with antimony (III) chloride, antimony (III) bromide, bismuth (III) chloride and bismuth (III) bromide reactions at 2: 1 stoichiometric ratios with antimony (III) iodide and bismuth (III) iodide 1: 1 stoichiometric ratios. The chemical structures of compounds [SbCl3(IMT)2], [SbBr3(IMT)2], [BiCl3(IMT)2] and [BiBr3(IMT)2] were found to have square pyramid (SP) geometry and the chemical structure of compound [SbI3(IMT)] and [BiI3(IMT)] had pseudo trigonal bipyramide geometry. All monomeric structures have been found to form dimeric or polymeric structures by bonding to each other through antimony-halide and bismuth-halide bridges.
