Rituals of transition in Varsak Turkmen (Antalya example)

Folk beliefs are important data used to reveal a society's religious perception and way of life. In order to understand the common values and judgments formed within the culture of a society, it is necessary to identify the religious and social elements that enable the formation of the value judgments of the society. Transcribing folk beliefs integrated with religious and social elements has enabled the culture to be transmitted from generation to generation. Turks established many states in different geographies. As a result of these established states, Turks established relations with many states with different religions and races and acquired a rich cultural accumulation. The mixing of new beliefs adopted in the layers of this cultural accumulation with the effects of old beliefs remaining in memory makes it difficult to determine the source of folk beliefs. In addition, the beliefs that were tried to be erased were not left empty, new practices were tried to be added. Writing down folk beliefs made it possible to reveal which new beliefs and practices were new ritual forms. The study titled "Religious and Social Life in Varsak Turkmens Living in Antalya" was examined in the light of previous oral and written studies on Varsak Turkmens living in Antalya. It is aimed to identify and evaluate the beliefs underlying the Turkish people's perspective on life and their practices in social life. Key Words: Religion, Sociology, Folk Beliefs, Varsak, Antalya
