It is very important to use electric energy efficiently for transmission and consumption facilities. The range of devices and differences of loads are the elements that effect the quality of energy. We can categorize loads as resistive, inductive and capacitive. There is no phase difference in resistive loads since current and voltage are on same phase. In inductive and capacitive ones,there is a phase difference,and this difference leads to occur reactive power. Reactive energy is used for creating magnetic area in inductive loads by pulling from system and giving back. For an effective and quality enegy, power factor should be around one (1),in other words phase difference should be decreased. This operation that is done for increasing power factor is called compensation. This thesis study is formed of two compensation practises. First practice comprises current SVC technique. Power factor is increased by implementing capacitors with contactor and reactors with driver into circuit. Power factor that is decreased while implementing loads into circuit is increased via compensation. In the second practice, variac controlled servo motor technic is set. In the technic used for compensation of inductive loads,the voltage applied to capactor is adjusted by controlling variac shafts with a servo motor. Adjusting of voltage applied to capacitor enables to use a capacitor in different powers. Servo motor movements are carried out by a software with arduino uno microprocessor. The cost is reduced by decreasing stage number and reactive power is set to zero with variac control.
