Parents' satisfaction and expectations from Qur'an courses for 4-6 age group

The Presidency of Religious Affairs, which carries out non-formal religious education activities, expanded its service area in 2013 to include children between the ages of 4-6 and started to offer services within the framework of educational programs specially prepared for children in Quran courses. Families who want their children to receive religious education at an early age prefer Quran courses for the 4-6 age group. This research aims to reveal the satisfaction and expectations of families regarding the 4-6 age group Quran courses to which they send their children. A case study design, which is a qualitative research method, was used in the study. The study group consisted of 24 parents of students receiving education in four different 4-6 age group Quran courses in the center of Amasya. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and the obtained data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. According to the research findings, the parents' desire for their children to receive religious education is a determining factor in course preferences; the children like going to the course and they are generally satisfied with the physical conditions of the course, educational content, teachers and other staff; It appears that children are sharing positive feedback about the course at home; Quran courses are being recommended to others, and positive behavioral changes are being observed in students. In conclusion, it appears that parents prioritize the Quran courses offered by the Religious Affairs Directorate for the 4-6 age group, are satisfied with the services they receive, and their expectations are largely met.
