Özet (EN)

The objective of this thesis is to assess the story and development of video art in Turkey from 2000's to present. With this respect, it is analyzed the alternative curatorial works used for the exhibition of video art, collectives, initiatives and the perspective of self-organized artists. It is also examined the social conditioning issues, concepts, facts and debates focused by Videoist in respect to video art and contemporary art organizations. The thesis is composed of four parts. The first part contains the birth and evolution of video art in general and of video art in Turkey specifically after 2000's in particular. The second part elaborates the reasons of emergence of collectives and initiatives as self organized art movement and their solid/tangible solutions to problem of Turkey art scene. The third part discusses the conditioning issues in the contemporary art and video art in the context of activities of Videoist, as a video art initiative. In the last part of the thesis, workshop studies, seminars, screenings and exhibitions realized by Videoist are examined by focusing on video art production. The whole study aims to find out the place of video art in the world and its reflections and significance in Turkey.
