Abstract (EN)
The Relationship Between Vitamin D Status And Insulin Resistance Among Weight Control Problem Adults. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the possible relationship between insulin resistance and vitamin D deficiency.Ecological data have shown that the incidence rate of many metabolic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, hyperlipidemia and hypertension is increased in areas where vitamin D deficiency is very pronounced and also have got less sunshine than other regions. Vitamin D regulates glucose metabolism due to its effect on insulin secretion and activity by acting as a prohormone. According to more recent studies, changing insulin resistance levels are also considered to be effective in low vitamin D. As of January 2017, all retrospective files of patients with pre-diagnosed or diagnosed abnormal weight gain (ICD: R63.5) in the Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases Polyclinic were screened, and when the sufficient number was reached, the sample determination was terminated.Approximately 250 people were identified with the preliminary study.Considering the inclusion criteria, only 20% of this number was included in the study.Patients were divided into three groups as morbidly obese, obese and overweight according to their body mass index levels. Serum 25 (OH) D levels <10 ng / ml were defined as vitamin D deficiency; between 10-20 ng/ml were defined as vitamin D insufficiency; >20 ng/ml were defined as the normal range of vitamin D. This study was planned to evaluate the possible relationship between insulin resistance and possible vitamin D deficiency in individuals who has insulin resistance and who cannot control body weight Keywords: Vitamin D deficiency, Insulin Resistance, Obesity
