Abstract (EN)
This study is to observe the effects of web-based and traditional learning environments on students success and to evaluate students in web-based learning environment. In this respect, in the course of Visual Programming?I, it is aimed to analyze the effects of web based learning and traditional face to face learning to the students? success, as well as to evaluate them through the rule-based data mining in web-based learning atmosphere.The study was conducted on first grade students getting the course of Visual Programming-I studying computer programming in Midyat Vocational High School of Mardin Artuklu University in 2010-2011 Academic Year spring semester. The study was conducted with pre and post tests control groups and planned suitably to experimental design. Both experiment and control groups consist of 20 students each. The experiment group studied the subject in web-based environment, and the control group studied it in a traditional environment. In both groups, starting to be applied following the academic year of 2010-2011, three subjects in Visual Programming Course, which is in the curriculum of Humon Resources Development Through Vocational Educational Project Vocational High Schools, were studied. The subjects follows as `?Operators?, ?Functions? and ?Control Structures and Loops?.The data of the study was gathered through web-based learning system attendant survey, pre and post tests used as success test and the saved data of web-based prepared learning system.According to the grades of pre tests and post tests of experiment and control groups, both methods were found effective. According to the avarages of the post test grades, the students in experiment group were more successful than the control group.That web-based learning system, which was prepared for the research, directed the students was evaluated as significant in the extend of both its stressing the points the students failed in a shorter time and its technical trustwothiness for the system. Besides, providing the students with a controlling opportunity, the related web-based learning system increased the reliability of the evaluation.As a result of the participatory survey applied to Experiment Group, web-based learning system provided more comfortable atmosphere and also increased the number of participants involved in the discussions.
