Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to examine nomad groups' populations, taxes, distributions and sedentarization processes in the Black Sea Coast Sancaks/Sanjaks (sub-province) which consist of Kastamonu, Canik, and Trabzon in the XVIth century. The sample of the study was limited with the XVIth century; however, sometimes the scope of the study was extended in order to follow the progression of some nomad tribes. The main source of the research constituted Tax Registers, which were recorded to determine the law of land ownership and use; and to investigate the sources of income in regions in the Ottoman Empire.
