Özet (EN)

This study provides insight into the historical context of the administrative, economic, and social interactions of the Ajloun District, which was under the control of Ajloun during Ottoman rule, from 1514 to 1596. In the course of the study, land registry registers numbered 970, 266 and 185, which were compiled in the 16th century, were utilized, along with registers of important affairs (Mühimme Defteleri), compendium, manorial system, and foundation registers from the same era. The notebooks in question contain extensive information on the administrative, economic, social, religious, and charitable activities and population carried out by the Ottoman Empire in the mid-16th century. Additionally, by using these notebooks, we can comprehend how the Ottoman Empire influenced the control of social, economic, and administrative activities in the District of Ajloun. Furthermore, these books have also shed light on issues about the District of Ajloun, such as its districts and sub-districts, villages and farms, settlements, settled and nomadic residents, mobility of the population, markets and other areas of economic activity, agricultural and animal husbandry activities, products and products produced, as well as taxes accrued or collected from trade.
