XVI. the Ottoman domination in the Liva of Ohrid

Balkans has always been an important region for Otoman Empire. In the region which was dedicated to a systematic and extended settlement since foundation phase, it is necesary to indicate the change in Otoman rule.The purpose of this study is to indicate changing and developing physical phonemena in the region with Ottoman rule in Balkans. ıt is also aimed to make regional observations about muslim and non-muslim communities' settlement, population and financial activities in Ohri, Macedonia with Ottoman urbanisation concept.Balkans was mostly conquered in 16th century and Otoman city planning took over the region as an important power. The current study aimed to state the city planning style especially in Ohri. Another purpose of the current study is to indicate political and socio-cultural situation by focusing on the works of foreign researchers, Tahrir documents and writing of Tahrir documents for this region especially with rise of Ottoman conquest process.The content of the study is limited to the situation of the city in the mentioned century. Also,the study is based on statistical data and manuscripts. Subjective data related to daily life was ignorized. Local place names, financial data, artworks and some population graphics are the results of this statistical document. In the light of current data, it was understood how Ottoman rule took part in Ohri region and Macedonia. After the conquest of this area, financial and social changes were tried to be shown with this research. Financial life was tried to be illuminated in Ohri city center and suburbs.At the end of the study, the population balance between muslims and non-muslims lasted till the end of the rule of Ottoman Empire in the mentioned area. Lake Ohri which is inside of financial life and important for Europe, animal breeding and farming can be seen clearly in this study.
