Abstract (EN)

This study's goal is to set forth how presentation of cultural elements and studies for language teaching in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language may become by using television advertisements along with activities. Rapidly developing technology is shaping our life in various areas. This bears a communication necessity with other countries in sectors like business, travel and education. The main key of communication is language. Each learnt languages open separate doors which are accounted as a positive step towards developments in human life. Teaching and learning language has become an individual sector and language teaching is performed by courses in private or state agencies and in schools or institutions of state or private universities all around the world. In light of approaches and methods developed in all these institutions until today, guide and contributory books, any kind of material, activities inside or outside class and many practices with teacher are taking form and developing day by day. At this point, our subject technological instruments and television (media) step in language teaching and learning. On the condition of a developing world, using technology in teaching language has become a necessity. Technological elements such as computer, nationally and internationally broadcasting television, radio and magazines are perpetually used by people and thus can be used as materials. Through these materials, original texts including current and creative points are easily available and they help learners in many ways. In first part of the study, learning and teaching foreign language in general, Common European Framework, developed approaches and methods until today and how these approaches and methods can be used in teaching Turkish to foreigners are all mentioned. In second and third, place and application of material in learning language, aim of TV advertisements and how they can help foreign language teaching are tried to be explained. In forth, selected advertisements are given with their texts through grammar rules and vocabulary in New Hittite Course Book for A2 level and it is tried to be mentioned how they, along with sample activities, can be used in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language. At last, our received data at the end of the study is examined and suggestions are made for how TV advertisements can be used in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language. Our study is believed to contribute to the field of Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language. Key Words: television, advertisement, language teaching, teaching Turkish
