Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study is to examine the mediating role of boredom and phubbing in the relationship between loneliness and psychological well-being. The sample of the study consists of 629 individuals, 377 females and 252 males, between the ages of 18-65, living in Turkey, reached through online platforms and voluntarily participated in the research. Socio-Demographic Information Form, Ruls-6 Loneliness Scale, Psychological Well-Being Scale, Brief Boredom Tendency Scale and General Phubbing (Sociotelism) Scale were used in the data collection process. The analyses in the study were conducted using IBM SPSS 27 software. Pearson Correlation analysis was used for the relationships between variables, Independent Groups t-Test and Kruskal Wallis-H test were used to determine the differences of variables according to demographic data. Process Macro 4.2 program Model 6 analysis was used in mediating role analysis. As a result of the research; when both mediating variables, boredom and sociotelism, are added to the model, it is seen that the indirect effects and serial mediation effect are significant. It was determined that there were significant differences in the research variables according to gender, employment status, marital status, education level, the most frequently used social media application and the reason for using the smartphone most frequently. Research findings were discussed within the scope of the literature and future research studies were conducted.
