Diaphragm breath in flute education and its individual instrumental education in musical teacher training institution in turkey

ABSTRACT DIAPHRAGM BREATH IN FLUTE EDUCATION AND ITS INDIVIDUAL INSTRUMENTAL EDUCATION IN MUSICAL TEACHER TRAINING INSTITUTION IN TURKEY DURAL, Tugçe Master Program Thesis, Education of Music Thesis Adviser: Prof. Seyda ÇLDEN May - 2007 This research has been made to emphasize the importance of diaphragm in the education of flute and to find out its appliance during the individual flute lessons in the Music Teachers Training Institutions in Turkey. During the progress of the research, the questions below have been raised into consideration such as ?What?s a diaphragm? What are its qualities and how to use it?? and ?the educational appliance of diaphragm breath in the educational curricular in the Music Teachers Educational Institutions in Turkey. During the course of the research, the resources about diaphragm have been scanned and its qualities as well as its effects in flute education have been tried to be explained. The Educational Curricular of 8 Music Teacher Educational Institutions out of 22 have been reached and examined as to determine the frequency of the educational practice of the diaphragm breath. As a result of this research, insufficient curricular practice of diaphragm breath have been determined in the Music Teacher Training Institutions in Turkey. It is considered that this research will shed a light to future researches about this matter and contribute to lecturers and researchers working in the Music Teacher Training Institutions in Turkey.
