Suggestion of semi-empirical (α,n) reaction cross-section formulas and nuclear data evaluation

Özet (EN)

In this study, newly semi-empirical (α,n) cross-section formulas including non-elastic scatter and Coulomb effects were suggested. By using the results obtained from the suggested formulas and nuclear models, excitation functions of production reactions of some medical radioisotope induced by alpha particles were analyzed at incident energies up to 50 MeV. It is seen that the results obtained from the suggested semi-empirical (α,n) cross-section formula give approximate maximums by the existing evaluated and experimental data and model calculation results. Additionally, gas production cross-section data were evaluated for natural titanium (Ti) irradiated with protons and neutrons at energies up to 3 GeV. The existing experimental and systematic data, and model calculations were used for the evaluation. The evaluation was carried out using statistical methods implemented in the BEKED code package developed at KIT/INR and Fortran programming language. When the newly evaluated data are examined, it is seen that proton production may cause the most nuclear damage at high energies when natural titanium is preferred as a structural material. The newly evaluated data in ENDF format were published as a data file in the official web site by IAEA.
