Development and implementation of children's rights education program based on creative drama

In this study, the evaluation, application and preparation of the curriculum of creative drama based child rights education is aimed. This study is patterned with explanatory sequential design which is one of the types of qualitative and quantitative research methods. Pretest-posttest one group experimental design is used in quantitative dimension, after the applications ended, in the qualitative dimension, interviews are done. Within this framework, 33 students take part in this study. The application continuing 15 weeks is done with 33 students in the study group. In the research, third grade students of a state school in Haliliye, the district of Şanlıurfa, constitute the study group. In this research as data collection tool, awareness test related to child rights, attitude scale related to child rights and assessment form to the view of effectiveness of creative drama based child rights education curriculum are used. The data of CRAT and CRAC are analyzed with Wilcoxon signed ranks test, qualitative data are analyzed with content analysis. According to the results of the survey, it is obtained that last measure scores of awareness and the attitude related to child rights of the students in the study group show meaningful increase than first measure scores. Besides, the qualitative results of the survey shows that creative drama based child rights education curriculum is beneficial for knowledge development for child rights, and awareness formation for the importance of child rights, child rights based behavior development. This research is of capital importance with regard to presenting information about child rights education with creative drama method in Turkey.
