Factors that affect the reasons of choosing common sports branches

The purpose of the study is to determine the causes effective variables of choosing the sports branches. The research method of the research is comparative and a survey study.Totally 250 sportsmen with different branches were included in the research. Each licensed with different 50 sportsmen were selected to the research sample by using random sampling method. The population of the data was Dicle University Sports Hall, Seyrantepe Sport Complex and Ziya Gökalp Sports Hall respectively.The study used survey questions with the sportsmen selected to face to face with answers. Survey questions included 45 questions in the field of person's family status, socio-economic-cultural variables and life style of the query.As the result, economic benefit was found as the first choice for sportsmen selected football branch. The structure of the body and the body length were found an effective choice for basketball and volleyball branches. Teacher training and environmental factors are more effective to choice the branch of wrestling and athletics branches.
