An investigation of the relationship between students' sportive life satisfaction and perceived success in summer sports schools

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the sport life satisfaction and the perception of success of students participating in summer sports schools. The study group consisted of 153 middle school students who participated in a summer sports school in the province of Ardahan. As a result of outlier and missing data analyses, the data of 149 students were included in the evaluation. The study was conducted using the descriptive survey model. As data collection tools, the Sport Life Satisfaction Scale developed by Diener et al. and adapted into Turkish by Cihan and Somoğlu, and the Perception of Success Inventory – Children's Version developed by Roberts et al. and adapted for Turkish athletes by Çetinkalp were used. The SPSS 25 package program was used for data analysis. The demographic characteristics of the participants were described with frequency and percentage analyses. The normality of the measurements obtained from the scales was tested with skewness and kurtosis coefficients, and their reliability was tested with Cronbach's alpha coefficients. The independent samples t-test was used to determine the differences between two groups, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for multiple group comparisons. The effect size of significant differences was evaluated using the Cohen's d coefficient. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between the variables. As a result of the study, a statistically significant, positive, and low-level relationship was found between middle school students' sport life satisfaction and their perception of success.
