Abstract (EN)
Bingöl is located in the Upper Euphrates Region in Eastern Anatolia. Bingöl has been densely inhabited by various communities from since prehistoric times. In the Bingöl Region, which consists of a geographically rugged and mountainous area, animal husbandry is the livelihood of the communities. In addition, there are Murat River and small plains around it and areas suitable for agriculture in the region. Finding carbonized seed grains from the Early Bronze Age, especially in recent excavations, shows that basic needs products such as wheat and barley were grown by communities and stored in settlements. Although the earliest traces of life belonging to the Early Bronze Age have been identified as a result of the excavations carried out in Bingöl in recent years, the fact that Bingöl and its surroundings have a volcanic land and therefore an intense obsidian source makes it a region preferred by people since prehistoric times. Obsidian is one of the indispensable means of exchange that meets the daily needs of communities from the Neolithic Period to the Iron Age. In this regard, it is thought that the prehistoric periods of the region, which is located in the chain of Elazig-Malatya-Bingöl plains, will be reconsidered in the light of new findings and will fill an important gap in ancient history. My master's study titled Ancient Age of Bingöl in the Light of New Research consists of four parts. In the first chapter, the historical structure of the region is mentioned. After introducing the physical geography and climatic features of the region in the second chapter, the Ancient Period researches about Bingöl are mentioned in the third chapter. In the fourth chapter, settlements, tombs, archaeological remains and findings reflecting the period that can be detected in the region until today are presented. Keywords: Bingöl, Ancient History, History, Iron Age.
