Abstract (EN)

Both individuals and enterprises have strongly felt the effects of the digital revolution introduced by the intellectual capital practices, which has being experienced worldwide in recent years. The intellectual capital practices provide the enterprises with sustainable competition gain and performance increase. Therefore, the enterprises attaching importance to the intellectual capital concept, seeking to catch up with the digital transformation and constituting the digital labour force have reached to the successful position in their sector. The intellectual capital is divided into three aspects as human capital, structural capital and relational capital. The applications created by the intellectual capital, on the other hand, can be summarized as artificial intelligence, augmented intelligence, big data, cloud, smart cities, blockchain, internet of things and smart energies. These applications have created a significant change by completely modifying the business processes and the managerial and structural forms of the enterprises all around the world. In the world where Society 5.0 and Industry 4.0 are taking place, the intellectual capital has taken its place as an innovator affecting the performance of all sector enterprises. The purpose of this thesis study is to examine the effect of the intellectual capital practices on the performance of the enterprises in the technology sector. For this reason, the study was carried out with three technology enterprises operating in Istanbul. The data of the study was collected by making thorough interviews, document reviews and observations with the most competent mid- and upperlevel managers in the departments of the enterprises, which are related to the subject of the study. The interview form examined what the intellectual capital practices and management of the technology enterprises provide as human capital, structural capital and relational capital as their effects on the performance of the enterprises. In addition, the new economy, information society, use of digitalism, digital transformation and enterprises' perspective to the future were also included into the interview questions of the thesis study. The purpose herein is to have a good knowledge of the intellectual capital and to understand the obstacles and restrictions to it. In order to ensure the reliability of the data of the thesis study, Kappa Analysis and feedbacks received from the enterprises were used. During the data analysis, the grounded theory was constituted by making clear, selective and axial codifications and the scientificness of the thesis study was ensured with the theory constituted.
