Analysis of texts in the 5th grade Turkish course book prepared according to the new Turkish course curriculum (2024) in terms of word types

The aim of this thesis is to determine the word types in the texts in the 5th grade Turkish textbook prepared according to the new curriculum, which gradually entered into force in 2024 and first started to be implemented in the 5th grades. Eighteen main texts in the textbook (2 volumes) prepared according to the new curriculum were analyzed in terms of word types. The words were classified as noun, adjective, pronoun, adverb, verb, preposition, conjunction and interjection. The identified word groups were also divided into subsets according to their structures or functions. Descriptive survey model was used in the study. While word group topics were included in the 6th grade annual plan in the previous curriculum, with the new curriculum, word types started to be taught in the 5th grade. Since one of the most important tools used for learning is the textbook, it is considered that the richness of the texts in the textbook in terms of word types will contribute to students' better understanding of word types. This study has importance for this reason. As a conclusion of the study, the noun type was identified the most in the texts analyzed. Adjective, adverb, verb, conjunction, pronoun, preposition and interjection followed the noun type respectively. Keywords: Word, Word Types, Turkish Textbook.
