New poverty and women's poverty: Experiences, expectations and hopes of single parent women receiving social assistance

This study examines how single-parent women experience poverty within their social, cultural, and spatial living environments and everyday practices, in the context of new poverty and women's poverty. Within the framework of the concept of new poverty, the research addresses how the structural and relational dynamics of poverty are transmitted intergenerationally within families and how these dynamics deepen within the context of gender inequalities, while also exploring these women's hopes and expectations for the future. This analysis approaches poverty from a gendered and sociological perspective, focusing on how single-parent women navigate poverty and the forms of existence they adopt in the process. The women's narratives reveal the manifestations of poverty in daily life and their individual experiences, while also demonstrating how this condition intersects with consumption patterns, socio-spatial constraints, and social exclusion. The study comprehensively analyzes women's relationships with social assistance, their strategies to cope with economic insecurity, and the emotional burden of poverty. In this context, data obtained through both literature review and fieldwork are evaluated holistically at the intersection of structural conditions and individual experiences. This research aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the multidimensional nature of poverty and how women experience this process from the perspective of gender inequality.
