An example of periodical from local to national: "Kıyı magazine"

This study demonstrates the place of Kıyı, which started as a local periodical in Trabzon, growing and expanding over the years and becoming a national periodical, in Turkish literature, and the importance and through Kıyı, general characteristics of local magazines, which are the legacy of the Halkevleri organization. A chronological index of Kıyı was prepared and through this the numerical analysis and contents of literary genres were assessed; people with influence in keeping the magazine going were presented and the contributions of Kıyı to our literature were determined. This thesis study consists of five sections. After the initial introduction section, a monography examination of the Kıyı magazine was done in the second section. Third section examines the contents of the magazine, while section four gives a chronological index of the Kıyı magazine. The final section is the conclusion of the study. The first section covers the purpose, importance, scope and method of the study, gives the explanations related to the study, goes over the sources regarding magazines in Turkish literature, presents local magazines and studies regarding these and points out the importance of Kıyı in this context. Second section provides information about the publication history, layout characteristics and the writing team of the Kıyı magazine. It also includes reviews of the Kıyı magazine. The third section groups the writings in the Kıyı magazine according to genre. The main areas covered are the number of writings over time for each genre, the authors with the most writings for each genre and the major subjects. Section four includes the chronological index of Kıyı magazine over its four periods starting from the first period's beginning at October 1st, 1961. The fifth and final section, conclusion, discusses the place of Kıyı in the context of Turkish literature based on the information gathered.
