Özet (EN)
Urbanization, one of the characteristic phenomena of modern times, started in the 21st century. It has led to fundamental changes in the land cover of world cities, and brought infrastructure and environmental problems in cities. At this point, the need for modern approaches in the spatial planning of urban areas facing an uncertain future under the influence of climate change and urbanization has become an increasingly critical issue. This new paradigm change has led to the emergence of a green infrastructure system that supports the construction of resilient cities by providing solutions based on nature or natural processes with land use planning. In this study, the spatial distribution and temporal variation of the green and gray infrastructure with the land cover/area use change information obtained by using LANDSAT 5 and LANDSAT 8 satellite images covering the years 1990 and 2020 for the Buca district of İzmir province were quantitatively examined. The results revealed that the components defined as green infrastructure decreased by 13.96% in the 30-year time series, while the components defined as gray infrastructure increased by 13.95%. In the other parts of the study, the population projection scenario of the district between 2025 and 2040 was produced by using the "Geometric (Exponential) Extrapolation Method", respectively, and landscape metric measurements were made in order to analyze the spatial composition and configuration characteristics of the green infrastructure system of the Buca district. Finally, suggestions were made to increase the existing ecological quality of green infrastructure components by using the main stage findings stated in the methodology section of the study.
