Abstract (EN)
With the increase in human population and urbanization, the amount of energy needed increases day by day. With the increase in energy use, global warming also increases. While creating living spaces as an architect, designs that will harm the cycle of nature as little as possible should be created. Green roofs appear as a part of the effective and efficient solutions proposed architecturally against global warming, which threatens our world with many benefits they offer. Our country is located in a geography that includes different climate types. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the role of the green roof in reducing the negative effects of the hot dry climate prevailing in the Southeastern Anatolia region in terms of temperature and humidity on buildings by using a sample green roof application and using measuring devices in the warm period. In the first part of the study, which consists of four parts, the importance of the application of Energy Efficient Design in buildings is emphasized. Energy efficient design parameters are explained and how these parameters should be applied in hot dry climate is also mentioned. In the second part, the definition, benefits, history, importance, types, application methods, plants used, layers and current situation in the world of Green Roofs are explained in detail. In the third chapter, the study area and the general climatic characteristics are given and the establishment of the study area, the preparation stages of the research station and the stages of the green roof application are emphasized. In the last section, the analysis of the data obtained by using measurement devices on the green roof and reference roof in July, August and September and the results reached. Key Words: green roof, energy efficient design, hot dry climate.
