Özet (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to examine the Role of Emotional Intelligence and Early Maladaptive Schemas in Predicting Relationship Stability in Adults. As a research method, the relational survey model which is one of the quantitative research methods was used. The sample of the study consists of a total of 259 participants, 201 women (77.6%) and 58 men (22.4%). Personal Information Form, Relationship Stability Scale, Emotional Intelligence Scale and Young Schema Scale-Short Form 3 (YSÖ-SF 3) were used as the data collection tools in the study. As a result of the research, it was concluded that there was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of relationship satisfaction, relationship investment, and commitment dimensions according to the gender of the participants. While there was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of relationship satisfaction, commitment and evaluation of the quality of options according to the duration of the relationship; a statistically significant difference was found between the groups in the dimension of relationship investment. Lastly, a statistically significant difference was found in the level of relationship satisfaction according to the age groups of the participants. According to the results of the Post-Hoc Scheffe Test which is performed to determine the source of this difference, the mean relationship satisfaction of individuals between the ages of 18-28 is higher than those in the age group of 29-38. When the relationship stability is examined according to the duration of the relationship, it was seen that there was only a significant difference between relationship investment from the sub-dimensions. When the source of this difference was researched, it was concluded that the group with a relationship duration of 6 years and above had a higher significant mean than the group with a relationship period of 1-5 years, and the group with a relationship period of 1-5 years had a higher and more significant mean than the group with a relationship duration of less than 1 year. What follows that respectively are emotional deprivation in the early stages caused by incompatible schemes, failure and expressing emotions. It has been understood that other independent factors are statisctically meaningless as a predictor impact. Keywords: Adult, early maladaptive schemas, emotional intelligence, relationship stability, romantic relationship.
