Effect of attachment styles, self-sufficiency and some demographic factors in adults on the dark triad of personality traits

Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the effects of adult individuals' attachment styles, self-efficacy beliefs and some demographic characteristics on dark triad personality traits. For this purpose, the predictors of dark triad personality traits were investigated according to demographic variables such as attachment styles, self-efficacy and demographic variables such as age, gender, education, income and marital status. The sample of the study consists of 285 adult individuals. Questionnaire method was used as data collection tool in the research, and Demographic Information Form, Dark Triad Scale, General Self-Efficacy Scale, Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory-II were used to create the questionnaire. Multiple Linear Regression Models were estimated to determine the predictors of dark triad personality trait scores according to demographic characteristics. As a result of the estimated models: It was observed that anxious and avoidant attachment and self-efficacy had different effects on makyevalism, narcissism and psychopathy in the whole sample and in groups that differed according to demographic characteristics. In addition, it was concluded that self-efficacy predicted narcissism and avoidant attachment was a predictor of psychopathy. The findings obtained from the research were discussed within the framework of the results in the literature and suggestions were made for future research.
