Abstract (EN)
In this study, the limestone samples were taken from Yılankale-Misis region and experiments were performed. The chemical, petrographical, mineralogical, geomethrical, physico-mechanical and thermal properties of the samples were determined from the experiments. The results of the analysis have showed that limestones contain >%97 CaCO3, low impurities (SiO2, Fe2O3, Al2O3), fine crystal structure according to petrographical analysis, unit volume weight higher than 2,55 g/cm3, compressive strength >50 MPa, lower than %30 loss of wear result for Los Angeles Abrassive Test, geometric properties to comply with standards and comply with the conditions of the calcination. Test results show that Yılankale limestones could be used for aggregate, lime, glass and refractory material production.
