Ill ABSTRACT PhD Thesis HYDROGEOCHEMICAL PROSPECTING PARAMETERS OF THE WATERS ORIGINATING FROM ELAZI? MAGMATICS IN THE YOLÇATI-BASKİL-KÖMÜRHAN (ELAZI?) TRIANGLE Ercan GERÇEK Fırat University Graduate School of Science and Technology Department of Geological Engineering 2005, Page : 166 Hydrogeochemical prospecting parameters of the waters originating from Elazığ Magmatics, in the area 30 km SW of Elazığ township, were investigated. For this aim an area of 250 sq. km was geologically mapped in 1:25000 scale and 119 samples of waters originating from Elazığ Magmatics were collected. The sample sites were marked on 1:25000 scale map. In order to determine environmental conditions, the pH and temperature of the waters were measured during sampling. The mean pH value of the waters was 7,46. The sampled waters generally have pH values just exceeding neutral point, high eH and their temperatures were influenced by seasonal changes. All of these features due to the waters were shallow waters circulating in the fractures and joints of the magmatics. The average temperature of the sampled waters was 16,8 °C in October, when the sampling was carried out. The nature of the waters affected the mobility of the elements studied. Collected water samples were analyzed for 73 elements, using ICP-MS techniques. Among those elements only the ones which have pathfinder nature and could be evaluated statistically, were evaluated. These elements were As, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mo, Pb, U and Zn. For evaluation; frequency distribution tables, cumulative frequency graphs and probability graphs were used.IV Elazığ Magmatics were mapped in three group lithologies: namely andesitic, dioritic and granitic rocks. The statistical calculations and estimates were made for the Elazığ Magmatics as a whole at first and then individually for each group of the lithologies. Evaluations and interpretations show that mean values for the elements are (as ppb); As: 5,6, Cu:2, Fe: 116,7, Mn: 4,9, Mo: 2,6, Pb: 1,7, U: 3,6 and Zn: 35,3. The treshold values are (as ppb); As:33, Cu:4, Fe:513, Mn: 2,1, Mo:10,4, Pb:2,5, U:13,8 and Zn:7,9. The water samples were element contents are higher then treshold values are located in 3 areas: the areas whereElazig Magmatics cut Keban Metamorphics, north of thrust zone between Elazığ Magmatics and Kömürhan Ophiolites and Topaluşağı area were younger phases (granodiorite and dasite) of the magmatics cut older phases.
