The students' perceptions regarding the effect of religious education in higher education of their playerfulness (A case for Akdeniz University Faculty of Teology)

The present study aims to examine students' perception regarding the effect of the training they receive at the Faculty of Theology on their prayerfulness in terms of various variables. To attain this goal, "Religious Orientation Scale" was administered to 682 students studying at Akdeniz University Faculty of Theology. In the research, the students' perceptions on how the training they received at the faculty affected their prayerfulness were analysed by several variables like gender, father education level, mother education level, graduated high school, grade, academic average, region and residential unit. The data collected within the scope of the research were analysed through SPSS 22.0 statistical package program. The analysis results showed there was a significant difference among the students' normative religious orientation sub-scale scores concerning the variables like gender, graduated high school, academic average, region and residential unit. Besides, it was revealed that the students' popular religious orientation sub-scale scores significantly differed according to the variables like mother education level, graduated high school and grade. On the other hand, it was found out the students' normative religious orientation sub-scale scores did not significantly differ according to father-mother education levels; their popular religious orientation sub-scale scores did not meaningfully change in terms of father education level, academic average, region and residential unit.
