Investigation of Hollywood films in the use of soft power specially in recreative karate

The aim of the study is to determine and analyze whether the United States of America uses soft power Hollywood movies as a soft power element in the preference / not choosing of karate-do as a recreational activity. In this research, which was designed in a phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research designs, document analysis was used in obtaining the data, and descriptive analysis method was used in the analysis of the data. In the analysis of the data obtained in the research, especially Hollywood productions and karate-do movies were analyzed in order to base the connection between soft power and cinema. The main sources have been reached in the books and articles that are the subject of the research. Together with the original sources, works with different interpretations were also examined and these sources were used in the formation of the thesis. According to the data obtained from the analysis of the Hollywood movies on recreational karate-do; when Japan, which developed by surpassing the USA in many areas and technologically between 1950 and 1980, progressed and became a threat to the USA, movies about kung-fu sports which were the arts of the culture of the People's Republic of China in the periods are broadcast by Hollywood and that kung-fu sports as a recreational activity specific to combat sports are used in a planned and effective way to create the perception on individuals that kung-fu sports should be studied; However, in the period when the People's Republic of China, which has been developing gradually since 1984, has become a threat to the USA, the effective use of the soft power of the USA, in Hollywood movies about karate-do, which is an art of Japanese culture by means of the discourses, music, clothes and audiovisual elements showing that it is effective against and kung-fu, it has been concluded that these films are used in a planned and effective way in order to create the perception that karate-do sports should be studied as a recreational activity, especially in combat sports.
