Anâsir-i Erba'a in the Dîvân of Yûnus Emre

Throughout the ages, people have ascribed deep meanings to concepts 'soil, water, fire and air', named four components of existence; accordingly tried to understand life and live it. When they observed occurred events and entities around them, they have seen soil getting dry without water, air flames fire, fire becomes incapable, buckles under water and blows out. They have discovered these components need each other to survive and complete each other. Thanks to this discovery, people have based the first essence of being on Anâsır-ı Erba'a made up of soil, water, fire and air. In this study; Anâsır-ı Erba'a is accepted as sole source and essence of being. Anâsır-ı Erba'a was tried to be revealed with opportunities of Ottoman poetry and Sufi literature ''with what kind of imagination it is perceived'', '' in which designs it is mentioned'', ''how it is expressed with symbols'' in The Divan of Yûnus Emre who is one of the most important Sufi poets in 13th Century Turkish Literature. Yûnus Emre have used components composing Anâsır-ı Erba'a in connected words directly or indirectly in a kind of simple way abstractly and concretely. In addition, he ascribed sufistic, positive and negative deep meaning to Anâsır-ı Erba'a term and other elements containing the mystery of creation. While doing this, he took advantages of contrast state of elements of Anâsır-ı Erba'a. In conclusion, Yûnus Emre approached Anâsır-ı Erba'a in Turkish Divan by giving particular importance to Turkish with his unique envision, wide size and strong editing
