Use potential of chemical fertilizer of producers in Yuregir plain

Abstract (EN)

In this research, a questionnaire study was conducted to determine the amount of chemical fertilizer use in plant production activities, and the information sources they use in the use of chemical fertilizers by face to face interview of 107 producers in the neighborhoods of Yüreğir district. According to the results of the producers' fertilizer use, the preferences of the producers as the base fertilizer application method were listed as 41.41% broadcast method, 37.4% drip irrigation method and 21.5% band application. As topdressing, 54.2% was applied to band and 39.3% was dripped. 33.6% composite (20.20.0) as base fertilizer and 50.5% urea (46% N) as top fertilizer take the first place among the other type of fertilizers. 4.9% of the producers use microelement fertilizers. Among the most planted crops in the study area, 42.9% of the producers in wheat, 70.6% in corn and 26.2% in citrus used exceeding amounts of nitrogen than that of the the recommended doses. 45.8% of the producers had soil analysis. The common information source they use in fertilization is their own experiences or knowledge. The biggest problem of the producres' in fertilization is the high fertilizer prices.
