Analyzing of Yūsuf Afandizadah Abd Allāh Hilmī al-Amasī's (1167/1753) book "al-Nafha al-Fāiha fī Tafsīr Surāh al-Fātihah"

Hashiyah (annotative commentary) works have been written in many fields of Islamic sciences and this has become a scientific tradition. In this study, the work of Yūsuf Afandizadah Abd Allāh Hilmī al-Amāsī (d. 1167/1753) al-Nafha al-faiha fi tafsir surah al-Fātihah, which is one of the Hashiyah works belonging to this tradition, is analyzed. This work, which is the subject of the study, is an annotation that deals with the Surah al-Fatihah in the context of Qadi Baydawi's (d. 685/1286) tafsir named Anwār al-Tanzīl wa Asrār al-Ta'wil. First part of our study the life of Yūsuf Afandizādah, his scientific personality and his works is introduced. In the second part Hashiyah tradition in Quranic interpretation, the understanding of science of the century in which al-Nafha was written, its writing, copies and content information were discuss. Finally language of work, style, method and sources of the work were revealed. Also, importance of work in terms of tafsir literature is taken hand.
