Knowledge, wisdom and gnosis in Yûsuf Hakîkî

In contemporary times, the speed of modern life, competition, and consumer culture can lead to various neglects among individuals. Despite the rapid advancement of technology and science granting people opportunities previously unimaginable, these advancements alone often result in a superficial absolutism in the pursuit of existence and meaning, particularly in terms of knowledge accumulation. At this juncture, Sufism emphasizes knowing, recognizing, and loving God through its inward-focused mechanism, thereby enriching the purpose of human existence in both worlds. This study delves into the concepts of knowledge, the limits of knowledge, and the means of acquiring it, drawing from the Sufi perspective and life of Yûsuf Hakîkî. The first section of the thesis provides fundamental information about Yûsuf Hakîkî's life and works. The second section explores the concepts of knowledge, wisdom, and gnosis in Yûsuf Hakîkî, along with their sources and methods of acquisition. In the third section, a comparative analysis is carried out to enhance the understanding of the characteristics and limitations of the concepts of knowledge, wisdom, and gnosis discussed earlier.
