Abstract (EN)

As in several vegetable species, Fusarium wilt also cause to serious damages in melon species. This situation limits the melon production in some areas of the our country. In this breeding study, haploidization method was prefered which results faster than classic breeding and more pure lines are obtained. In this study, in melons which belong to Yuva-Hasanbey Group, haploid plants were tried to produce. In the study, by pollinating at 4 different pollination dates (10-17 April, 18-25 April, 26 April-03 May, 04-11 May), the best pollination date was tried to determine. Accoring to this, the best term was 4th pollination time (04-11 May). The highest transformation rate of embriyos to plant was obtained from fruits set in 4th week of pollination. Besides, in this study weight of fruits, seed number, number of haploid embryos found in each fruit, number of different shaped haploid embryos (heart, torpedo, globular) of haploid embryos which tranformed to plant and transformation ratio were investigated.Melons were harvested in three different dates (22, 26 and 30 days after pollination) and these melons were stored at +13 ºC, for 0, 1, 2, 3 weeks. In the study the best results were obtained from the 22nd day harvesting, the best result for storage was for maximum 2 weeks period. After the pollinations most of fruit can be grown. These fruits can cause to build up because the laboratory studies are time consuming. This situation decreases, the embryos? quality. To prevent this, fruits extracted directly after harvest and fruits were stored at room temperature, +4 ºC and +13 ºC. In this study, the best results among the storage conditions applied was obtained from the direct extraction after harvest.Key words: Haploidy, Melon, Co60, Embryo rescue
