Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of different strength training on isokinetic muscle strength in swimmers. A total of 18 male swimmers between the ages of 18-22 who participated in national competitions participated in the research voluntarily. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups: experimental group (n:9, age: 19.45 ± 2.18) and control group (n:9, age: 20.29 ± 2.66). Different strength training programs were applied to the experimental group 3 days a week for 6 weeks. The groups continued their normal swimming training. Dominant leg isokinetic peak torque strength and H/Q peak torque ratio measurements were made for both groups before and after starting different strength training. An isokinetic dynamometer (CSMI Cybex Humac Norm, USA) was used for isokinetic strength measurements. Isokinetic measurements were made at angular velocity widths of 60o/s and 180o/s. Each movement angle was performed after warming up, with 10 repetitions and a 45-second rest period. Analyzes of statistical data were made with SPSS 22.0 program. Before statistical procedures, the Shapiro-Wilk Test was applied to determine whether the data were normally distributed. Paired Samples T Test was applied for intra-group comparisons. Statistical data were evaluated at the p<0.05 significance level. A significant difference was detected in the isokinetic muscle strength values of the experimental group after different strength training programs (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the control group (p>0.05). As a result, it can be said that 6 weeks of different strength training applied to swimmers positively affects isokinetic muscle strength values.
