Abstract (EN)
The subject of deeds is of great importance in the Islamic faith. The Holy Qur'an emphasizes the significance of faith and good deeds, and places good deeds alongside faith as the most superior value. One of the primary goals of Islam is to encourage Muslims to behave well, in addition to having faith. Prophets are depicted in the Qur'an as righteous individuals, and the last messenger, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), is presented as a model person who demonstrated how to implement such behaviors in daily life. To underscore the importance of good deeds, the Prophet frequently recommended various deeds to different people in different settings, to identify the most virtuous, perfect, and praiseworthy deeds, in support of the verses that promote good deeds. The hadiths containing these recommendations were subsequently conveyed by the Companions in the concepts of Targib and Tarhib. During the classification era, new hadith collections emerged, specifically focusing on this concept, and were known as "At-Targhib wat-Tarhib". The work entitled "Fazail-e Amal," which assemble hadiths concerning the virtues of deeds, are also generally categorized under the label of At-Targhib wat-Tarhib. The "Fazail" and (Fazail-e Amal) "The virtues of deeds", which have played a significant role in various aspects of the Islamic tradition, have become the principal source and foundation of a community today known as the Tablighi Jama'at (Society of Preachers), based on Zakarîyâ Kandahlawi's (1898-1982) Fazail-e Amal. In this study, we examine Kandahlawi's work, its social impact, and the activities of the Tablighi Jama'at. The research comprises an introduction, four main chapters, and a conclusion. The first chapter discusses Kandahlawi's life and scholarly personality, as well as the political, social, and scholarly circumstances of his era, including his name, lineage, family background, and upbringing environment. The section on Kandahlawi's scholarly personality encompasses his education, scholarly and missionary travels, works, and place in Islamic sciences. In the second chapter, we investigate Kandahlawi's position in the field of hadith, particularly in regard to his commentary on hadith. The third chapter is dedicated to the importance of Kandahlawi and his Fazail-e Amal in the development of the Tablighi Jamaat. In the fourth chapter, we explore the social impact of Fazail e Amaal within the context of the religious outreach activities of the Tablighi Jamaat. In the conclusion, we evaluate Kandahlawi's place in Islamic sciences, his approach to hadith, and the attributes of Fazail-e Amal, while also discussing the impact of this work on society within the framework of the Tablighi Jamaat.
